SOLAROS Tech Day at THE SHOP spring 2010

The Southern Land Rover Society is our local Land Rover club. SOLAROS has events that are scheduled throughout the year. Prior to major off-road events, The Shop hosts a Tech Day for members to bring in their vehicles for major/minor repairs and installs. The Shop provides lifts, air-tools, technical advice, technicians, and a scrumptous meal for the day. Also, two rambunctious daggs that keep everyone entertained!

For the first Tech Day of 2010 we had David Casper add a 2" lift and mud-terrains to his 2004 Disco. Dennis Brown investigated a coolant leak by pressurizing the coolant system and found a loose clamp on the lower radiator hose. A quick fix! We had a Moose sighting!!!! (Our new prez.) Sam Parsons rummedged through our used parts stock to recover 4 aluminium DII rims for his 16" off-road tires. Ely (one of our techs') had previous issues with weak springs on his truck and installed lift spacers to correct the problem. Luke detailed The Shops' newest shop loaner, a 2000 Range Rover. And, Desiree attended to some much needed spring cleaning.

The Shop wants to extend a big "THANK YOU" to those members that attended Tech Day! We are glad to provide ya'll our hospitality!

The Shop would also like to recognize our Techs' for graciously giving up a Saturday to make Tech Day an event that is informative and helpful to the lay-mechanic that has the enthusiasm to work on their own vehicle! Props to David and Ely, you guys rock! Thanks dudes'!

A special thanks to Mario and Luke for going the distance to get the shop tidied-up the previous evening. The Shop looks much more presentable and is a better work environment for us all!!!

Last but not least, I would like to extend my gratitude to Astro and Mr. Wiggles for their tireless dedication to entertaining us all!

For you off-road enthusiasts, we will be carrying a 4-link for Defender models, DI and Range Rover Classics. This is produced by PSYOPTIC. It is currently in its R&D stage. We are looking forward to offering this product as soon as it is in full production. We'll keep you up to date with future posts.

up-dated heavy-duty engine mounts for DII

We are also carrying OEAccessories heavy duty engine mounts. Since we see and replace numerous engine mounts on DII Discoverys'. We sought out this company that actually addressed that weak point, and corrected that problem with their product. Since the OEM part is manufactured to break away during impact. So, they're not very stout. The rubber dries out and susequently break.

We are also an authorized dealer for Quicksilver Exhaust Systems. Quicksilver has produced exhausts for every Astin Martin model since the 1050's, for road and competition models. Since then they have expanded to Audi, Bently, BMW,Bugatti, Farrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, LAND ROVER, Lotus, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes, and Porsche. If you have special requirements they can design and manufacture systems to suit your needs, using thin gague stainless steel (.9mm), Titanium or Inconel. Kool stuff!
